What we do and Why Join?
At the Happy Belly Club, we want you to enjoy food in every possible way, from having a delicious meal in the South End to learning how to shuck oysters in Cape Cod to listening to food supply chain experts, while getting to know your classmates and significant others at the same time. We're working on putting together an amazing selection of events for this fall and spring. An overview of our events is below.
Restaurant Outings
We plan dinners for small groups of 10-20 students all over Boston and Cambridge. We've been to Oleana, Hungry Mother, Rialto and more. If that isn't enough to convince you to join, we often negotiate prix fixe prices or use club funds to pay for appetizers.
Hosted Dinners
If you'd rather get to know students in a more private setting, we organize dinners hosted by your fellow classmates in their apartments or homes. Past events include a "Fall Dinner" and a home-cooked , fresh pasta meal.
Themed Events
New this year, Happy Belly Club VPs Graham and Daryl will be helping the class understand the scotch whiskey and cigar industry in Boston. We're still in the process of planning; stay tuned.
Speaker Series
Learning about food is just as important to us as eating. We are working on lining up an impressive array of speakers for the fall and spring semesters. Past speakers have included Villa Mexico's Julie King, the maker of the Best Burrito in Boston, and Edgar Blanco, an MIT food supply chain expert.
Cooking Classes
Never cooked before? We want to help you learn. We organize cooking classes with talented chefs around the Boston area and with our own student experts. Past events have included a French cooking class at Elephant Walk and Spanish cooking lessons with Sloan student Lucia Rabade.
Food Trips
Think Oktoberfest, oyster festivals, state fairs and more. We organize class trips to places like the Wellfleet Oyster festival in Cape Cod, including all travel and logistics so all you have to worry about is food and friends.
